Description

Coalition continues to represent the idea that blending can create something more compelling than any one variety on its own. This vintage brings together Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Teroldego, and Mencía, combining old vine Mendocino fruit with Central Coast character.

The nose is expressive and layered, opening with spice-driven aromatics from the Mencía alongside vibrant red and purple fruit tones. Notes of cranberry, plum, and brambly red fruit are complemented by more unusual elements that lean slightly tropical — hints of watermelon, dragon fruit, and subtle orchard fruit. There is both brightness and depth here, giving the wine an evolving aromatic profile as it opens.

At the core, the Zinfandel contributes juicy red fruit energy, while the Teroldego provides a darker structural backbone. The Sangiovese adds lift through crunchy red fruit and lightly savory herbal tones, creating movement between freshness and density.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with notable density, yet remains balanced through good acidity and smooth, integrated tannin. The texture is substantial without feeling heavy, giving the wine both presence and drinkability. Oak influence adds a sense of roundness and contributes a subtle sweet spice and creamy barrel character that enhances the wine’s overall fullness.
