Now she’s back, and just as irresistible. Made from 100% Cinsault (pronounced san-so), a grape I’ve worked with for years in my Rosé, this vintage takes that light-colored, fruit-forward variety and lets it shine as a fully red wine. Tasting this wine out of barrel was pure excitement. What landed in bottle is unapologetic fun: joyful, vibrant, and impossible not to love. Think watermelon jolly rancher, raspberries, red plum, and pure good vibes. Chill it, pour it, and drink it and you’ll immediately understand why it’s called Dancin’ Sophie.
The Cinsault for Dancin’ Sophie comes from a vineyard in Lodi located along the Mokelumne River, the same site as the Cuvée Sacha & Nitza Rosé, but harvested a few days later for extra depth and expression. That added hang time brings brighter fruit, lively acidity, and a subtle wet-stone minerality that elevates the wine without weighing it down. Fermented in neutral French oak and then aged in a combination of neutral French oak and stainless steel, this is the bottle I’ll continue to be reaching for all spring and summer. It’s fresh, energetic, and dangerously easy to drink because it’s just that good.
